Apprentices can now track and submit their hours electronically – no paper book needed.
Read the instructions below to learn how you can use the TradeSchool hours reporting system. You can also watch the excellent “Online Time Card and Evaluation” video on California/Nevada JATC’s website for visual instructions.
When you log into TradeSchool, you will see a red icon showing the number of monthly evaluations waiting for you:
If you run into any issues with the system, please contact the apprenticeship school.
TradeSchool offers a way to enter your work hours electronically, just like you would with a paper log book. At the end of the month, you submit those hours by e-mail to your journeyman, and upon his or her approval they are submitted to the AJEATT. You will no longer need to keep a paper hours book. However, you are still responsible for ensuring that your journeyman reviews your hours and submits them by the 15th day of each month.
We strongly recommend that you submit your hours for journeyman review by the 5th of each month. This will allow plenty of time for review and submission.
We strongly recommend that you fill out your hours at the end of each workday. You can log into TradeSchool as many times as you want, to add hours.
TradeSchool is software that allows JATCs across the country to track apprentice and journeyman training. The AJEATT has used TradeSchool for several years to keep track of apprentices’ work hours. Recently, we have been working toward implementing its hours reporting system that allows apprentices to track and submit their hours electronically, without the need for paper log books. COVID-19 has fast-tracked that implementation.
TradeSchool web services offers several useful features for employers:
Answer: No, you do not need to keep a paper hours book. The school will no longer issue new books once the electronic system is fully implemented.
Answer: You will get a notification when your journeyman completes your evaluation. Your hours are submitted to the school at that time. Good communication with the school and with your journeyman will ensure that your hours are received timely.
Answer: Please call or e-mail the school promptly if you or your journeyman have any difficulty with the system. Please ensure that you contact us prior to the due date (15th of the month) to ensure that your hours are not considered late.
Answer: If you’re not receiving e-mails from TradeSchool, first log in to TradeSchool and make sure that your e-mail address is correct. Then, check the junk mail folder in your e-mail account to see if the e-mails have been filtered as spam. To prevent this from happening in the future, add messaging@secure.tradeschoolinc.com to your safe senders list.
Answer: Yes! Please submit a report every month, even if you didn’t work. Just click “Submit” on a monthly report that has no hours entered. You’ll then see a drop-down menu where you can select the unemployment reason, and then click “Submit to JATC Office”:
