Electronic Monthly Hours Reporting Now Online!

Apprentices can now track and submit their hours electronically – no paper book needed.

Read the instructions below to learn how you can use the TradeSchool hours reporting system. You can also watch the excellent “Online Time Card and Evaluation” video on California/Nevada JATC’s website for visual instructions.

    TradeSchool Instructions

    I am a journeyman

Step 1: Receive an evaluation request

    • Your apprentice will need your valid e-mail address
    • Your apprentice will submit their hours to you for evaluation. You will receive an e-mail from TradeSchool. Check your junk mail if the e-mail does not appear:
    • Click the LOGIN link in the e-mail, and log in to TradeSchool. If you do not have an account, you can “Create Account” at this time:
      • When creating an account, follow the prompts. The AJEATT must approve all new accounts, so it may take up to 24 hours before you receive e-mail notification that your account has been created. The notification will include a link to log into TradeSchool.

    Step 2: Evaluate apprentice’s hours

When you log into TradeSchool, you will see a red icon showing the number of monthly evaluations waiting for you:

    • Click on “Apprentice Evaluations“. You will see a button next to each apprentice’s name, which will take you to their evaluation form:
    • Click the button to fill out the apprentice’s evaluation and review their hours. Please fill the form out completely and leave comments.

    Step 3: Submit the evaluation

    • At the bottom of the evaluation form, you’ll have the option to approve or reject the hours that the apprentice filled out for the month.
    • To approve, the hours, click “Submit” to send the evaluations to the school.
    • To reject the hours, click “Reject” and enter the reason you are rejecting the hours. The evaluation will then be returned to the apprentice for corrections:

If you run into any issues with the system, please contact the apprenticeship school.

    How it works:

TradeSchool offers a way to enter your work hours electronically, just like you would with a paper log book. At the end of the month, you submit those hours by e-mail to your journeyman, and upon his or her approval they are submitted to the AJEATT.  You will no longer need to keep a paper hours book. However, you are still responsible for ensuring that your journeyman reviews your hours and submits them by the 15th day of each month.

We strongly recommend that you submit your hours for journeyman review by the 5th of each month. This will allow plenty of time for review and submission.

Step 1: Login to Trade School

    • From the AJEATT website, click on “Apprentice Resources” and then “TradeSchool Login“
    • You should already have a TradeSchool account. If you do not know your password, click “Reset Password”
      • If you try to re-set your password, and you get the message “Your account could not be found”, contact the apprenticeship school for assistance.

Step 2: Fill out your hours each day

We strongly recommend that you fill out your hours at the end of each workday. You can log into TradeSchool as many times as you want, to add hours.

    • Once you log into TradeSchool, click on the “Apprentice” tab, and then click on the “Hours” tab:
    • You’ll see a grid. The columns are the date, and the rows are work categories. You can fill in your hours every day. Make sure to hit the “Save” button after adding hours!

    Step 3: Submit your hours

    • At the end of the month, when you are done entering your hours, click “Submit“:
    • You’ll then enter your journeyman’s e-mail address. He or she will receive a notification e-mail, and then will log into TradeSchool to review your report. Once your journeyman completes your evaluation, he or she will submit it to the apprenticeship school and you’ll receive a notification e-mail.

    About TradeSchool

TradeSchool is software that allows JATCs across the country to track apprentice and journeyman training. The AJEATT has used TradeSchool for several years to keep track of apprentices’ work hours. Recently, we have been working toward implementing its hours reporting system that allows apprentices to track and submit their hours electronically, without the need for paper log books. COVID-19 has fast-tracked that implementation.

    How you can use TradeSchool

TradeSchool web services offers several useful features for employers:

    • As soon as an apprentice is assigned to you, you can view them in your TradeSchool account. You’ll get access to useful information, including:
      • Their total hours, apprenticeship period, and pay scale
      • Their detailed work experience – how many hours they’ve performed in each category of work
      • Certain information about their current certifications (CDL, CPR/1st Aid, etc). Please note that this part is a work in progress

    How to access TradeSchool

    • To set up an employer account, please contact the apprenticeship school. Be ready with the e-mail addresses of the people you want to access the account.
      • You can have multiple users access your TradeSchool employer account. You can also have a generic account for access by a workgroup, such as an “HR” account.
    • One we set up your account, from the AJEATT website, go to “TradeSchool Login” under the “Apprentice Resources” tab.
    • Once you’re logged in, click on the “View Apprentices” tab at the top to see your current apprentices and access their information.

    Apprentice FAQs

Do I still need to fill out my paper book?

Answer: No, you do not need to keep a paper hours book. The school will no longer issue new books once the electronic system is fully implemented.

How will I know when my journeyman submits my hours to the school?

Answer: You will get a notification when your journeyman completes your evaluation. Your hours are submitted to the school at that time. Good communication with the school and with your journeyman will ensure that your hours are received timely.

I/my journeyman is having issues with the system. What do I do?

Answer: Please call or e-mail the school promptly if you or your journeyman have any difficulty with the system. Please ensure that you contact us prior to the due date (15th of the month) to ensure that your hours are not considered late.

I'm not receiving confirmation e-mails from TradeSchool. How do I fix this?

Answer: If you’re not receiving e-mails from TradeSchool, first log in to TradeSchool and make sure that your e-mail address is correct. Then, check the junk mail folder in your e-mail account to see if the e-mails have been filtered as spam. To prevent this from happening in the future, add messaging@secure.tradeschoolinc.com to your safe senders list.

I didn't work this month. Do I still submit a report?

Answer: Yes! Please submit a report every month, even if you didn’t work. Just click “Submit” on a monthly report that has no hours entered. You’ll then see a drop-down menu where you can select the unemployment reason, and then click “Submit to JATC Office”:
